Engage.

So I did these back in.....October, I think, and I'm just now posting them. Whoops. Lots of other shots along the way.

Anyways. My coworker Jaime asked me to do some engagement pictures with her fiance Nick. So I obliged, and we had some fun shooting at the Citygarden downtown. Why it's spelled that way is beyond me. It was a brisk day, but they were kind enough to take their shoes off and go stand in the fountains for a few shots. No one got hypothermia, so all was well. The overhead shot was Jaime's idea, and I think it turned out well. The last shot was something I'd seen somewhere else and was keen on trying. I think it turned out alright, even though I forgot to hide some of the display settings. Also interesting is that the main shot is properly exposed, while the smaller image was a little over-exposed.

Also--scroll down for some kinda cool news!

Woot.

Just in case you haven't seen them already, you can go to the GateKeepers site and see the shots I did.

(you can also find me listed under their sponsors, which is pretty awesome.)

Jazz Hands!

I'm almost sorry for that. But not quite.

Did you know the library has a flickr page? I don't think I've mentioned it before. Anywho, you can go there and see more pictures from this particular event. Tell 'em I sent you.

Roller Derby Players

I asked Magnum (the fellow in the first shot) what the guys who play roller derby call themselves (since the gals are roller girls, I assumed there was similar nomenclature for the guys). Turns out there isn't, and after a few minutes of discussion, this is what was settled on. I thought about using a pun, but decided not to.

So yeah. We've got ourselves male roller derby here in St. Louis now--the GateKeepers. I went to their practice last night, and got these shots after practice. I did a lot more tinkering with these than usual, but I think it worked out pretty well. The green overlay is pretty close to the team color, which is why I picked it.

And more shots are up over on my flickr page, so go check them out! And if you want to see the GateKeepers play, their first bout is on March 20.

It is Balloon!

If anyone has a scorecard at home, this marks the third time young Christopher has made it to the blog. Weird. Anyways, I was shooting a party last night, and he was there, making good use of all those balloons laying around. I didn't crop too much out of the frame. What you see is more or less what I had, and it's a little quirky, which is probably why I like it.

Tattoo You, pt. 3

I think this officially marks the end of all the pictures I wanted to use from that day in the Loop back in August. These two gentlemen were selling CDs of their band (the name of which escapes me), and were nice enough to let me do whatever it is I do.

It turns out that shots of tattoos on arms are trickier than I thought. I've yet to come up with a good position that looks interesting, and not too forced. Surely such a thing exists!
